The commemorative coin is dedicated to railway transport workers of Ukraine, who are deservedly called ”iron” people. After all, in difficult times for the country, Ukrainian railway workers proved their professionalism and devotion to Ukraine. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the railway became the ”road of life” for millions of Ukrainians forced to evacuate to safer regions, a steel road connecting Ukraine with European partner countries, an important logistical artery for the transportation of goods strategically important for the population and the state.
The obverse of the coin features a stylized trident, the contours of which are outlined by the image of railway tracks. In the center, on a mirrored background, is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Banknote and Mint, the minting year of the coin is 20 / 23; at the top - the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, the denomination of the coin is 5 and the graphic sign of the hryvnia; inscription UKRAINE (left).
The reverse of the coin depicts a train, stylized with the Ukrzaliznytsia logo, breaking out of its surroundings; on both sides of the train – a symbolic composition containing sharp points directed at it; at the top is the inscription THANKS TO THE RAILROAD WORKERS! The motif of the reverse illustrates the real events of the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when Ukrainian railwaymen, risking their own lives, saved people on the border of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. The tanks of the aggressor tried to stop the evacuation of the civilian population, chasing and crossing the train.
