Synopsis:
Donna’s senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life, though a sadistic killer from her past has different plans for her and her friends.
Remake (in name only) of the 1980 Jamie Lee Curtis film.
Scout Taylor-Compton was considered for the role of Donna before Brittany Snow was cast.
If you don’t count Tourist Trap (1979), which is PG (the PG-13 rating didn’t exist yet), or Cry Wolf (2005), which was edited to be PG-13 with the uncut R-rated version released on home video, then this film holds the distinction of being the first slasher film in the history of horror films to receive a PG-13 rating (When a Stranger Calls (2006) doesn’t necessarily count as the killer doesn’t use knives), an aspect of the film that was critically reviled by fans and critics alike. The unrated cut only restores 1 minute of footage and it’s still tame enough to pass for PG-13.
