Title:
Y Kant Tori Read
Description:
”I COULD NOT HAVE WRITTEN LITTLE EARTHQUAKES without skinning my knees.” Long disowned by Tori Amos, Y Kant Tori Read is the official debut album from the influential artist. Amos was a child prodigy who began writing her own music at the age of three, and by the time she was 17, Atlantic Records had offered a deal to her group, Y Kant Tori Read. YKTR’s self-titled album dropped in 1988, and it was a critical and commercial flop; Amos attributed the failure to interference from the label executives, which blurred and eventually crushed the group’s musical edge and direction. The Tori Amos that we’d eventually get to know, the artist behind Little Earthquake and subsequent works that embodied her signature minimalism and emotional depth, is nowhere to be found on this ’80s synthpop record. However, fans have been clamoring for Y Kant…, and it’s been one of the most coveted releases from Tori Amos’s catalog. After almost 30 years, she officially brings the record back, and the 10-tracker comes remastered w/ the memorable cover art in tact. Tracks to check out include ”The Big Picture,” ”Cool On Your Island,” ”Fire On The Side,” and ”Floating City.”
