Title:
Mccoy Tyner Blue Bossa
Description:
McCoy Tyner piano
Claudio Roditi trumpet
Avery Sharpe bass
Aaron Scott drums
Raphael Cruz percussion
Cut one, Blue Bossa, Ohh yeahh! It sizzles out of the blocks. Wow, what a fast pace burner this was! The percussionists hands had to be flying at supersonic speeds. I was nodding reading and it woke me up and forced me to listen. Cut three “I’ll take Romance Swings” with wonderful pace and rhythm. I love Bassist Avery Sharpe’s work.
This album seems to have lots of energy and stroke! This album really had an engaging and pull me in effect going on with it. I read the All Music reviews and nearly fell out of my chair. I think these guys must be on the payoff or are jerks! They truly busted the album rating it at only 2.5 out of 5. What I heard reflected a very tight performance of excellent musicians on side one. I’ll report further when I sit all the way through.
The musicians here are on fire: Avery Sharpe is killing the bass licks, Aaron Scott whales on the drums, and Raphael Cruz is a Percussionist master, Claudio Roditi represents on the Trumpet and Flugelhorn. All very seasoned.
