Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is a humorous role‑playing game set on Pi’illo Island, where Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and their entourage are vacationing when an ancient evil, the bat king Antasma, kidnaps Peach into the Dream World. Mario must team up with both his brother in the real world and a dream-powered version of Luigi inside the Dream World to rescue her and free the petrified Pi’illo people. Gameplay alternates between exploration and timing‑based, turn‑driven battles in two distinct realms. In the real world, the player controls both brothers simultaneously, using classic Bros. Attacks and their unique hammer and jump abilities to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Inside Luigi’s dreams, Mario partners with Dreamy Luigi and swarms of Luiginoids that can merge into powerful formations such as bouncy towers, wrecking balls, and giant hammers. Players can manipulate a sleeping Luigi on the touch screen—poking, pulling, and tilting him—to reshape platforms, alter gravity, or trigger Luiginary Attacks that fill the upper screen with dozens of Luigis. Giant Battles turn the Nintendo 3DS sideways like a book, pitting a colossal Luigi against towering bosses using motion controls and stylus gestures. The game offers deep character customization via equipment and gear, a robust hint system, and optional Easy Mode to support players of all skill levels, all wrapped in colorful 3D visuals and the series’ trademark slapstick storytelling and witty dialogue.
