Title:
Darkscream Dark Scream Gas Skunk Slapper
Description:
Dark Scream (Mega Class 3-pack, 2001)

Accessories: Sword for his Hasbro Robots in Disguise release

Dark Scream was only available in a Mega-sized 3-pack with his fellow stooges Gas Skunk and Slapper. This set was part of the first wave of Robots in Disguise Megas.Dark Scream has a number of small differences from Car Robots Guildo. His gray plastic has been replaced with shinier silver-colored plastic, his chrome is a lighter champagne-gold rather than yellow-gold, and his purple paint is much more violet than the reddish-purple of the Takara release.

Notes

According to the Car Robots toy catalog, Dark Scream, Gas Skunk and Slapper make up a subgroup known as the "3 Metal Beast Brothers” (メタルビースト3兄弟 Metaru Bīsuto 3 Kyōdai). Apparently, Takara’s intent was to have them parallel the "3 Car Robo Brothers” (as Prowl, Side Burn, and X-Brawn were called in Japan), but this subgroup name was never used in the show’s Japanese version, nor was any familial relationship implied between the three.A pre-production version of Dark Scream (well, Guildo) with brighter gold chrome appeared in the original Car Robots toy catalog. On the (now defunct) Fox Kids website was a bio for Slapper that referred to his, Dark Scream’s, and Gas Skunk’s three-member team as the "Predacon Field Squadron”.. This bio (like the others from that site) was derived from a longer bio for Slapper given in the production bible for the Robots in Disguise English dub. A similar bio for Dark Scream featured in the bible identified him as the field squadron’s second member.[3] However, this team name was never used in the show itself.Dark Scream was noted to have a Sciuridon beast mode in Beast Wars: Uprising.

Gas Skunk  (Mega Class 3-pack, 2001)

For his Hasbro release, Gas Skunk was only made available in a Mega-sized 3-pack with Dark Scream and Slapper. This set was released in the first wave of Robots in Disguise Megas.Gas Skunk has the fewest differences from the Takara release of the three Predacons in the pack; it’s kind of arguable if the change is even significant at all, as it’s just that the yellow paint on Gas Skunk’s back is slightly darker than on Gaskunk.

Notes

In the Japanese version, Gas Skunk speaks in effeminate Japanese. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Slapper (Mega Class 3-pack, 2001)

Accessories: Tongue-mace

For his Hasbro Robots in Disguise release, Slapper was only available in a Mega-sized 3-pack with his fellow stooges, Dark Scream and Gas Skunk. The Hasbro version of Slapper has only a slight difference from the Takara release, having a much richer emerald-green chrome on his beast-mode eyes, rather than the paler green of Car Robots Goosher. (Oddly, Goosher’s packaging shows him with the richer green found on the later Hasbro release.)More information on Slapper at TFU.infoNotesAccording to the early Car Robots bible, Goosher has the following statistics:Height: 4 metersSlapper’s tongue is 42 feet, 3 inches long. He measured it himself in "Battle Protocol!”.
