Sonar transforms into a VentureStar concept shuttle. He also forms the hilt to the Star Saber sword, which can be held by any other Transformer that has 5mm fist-holes. This version came with his partners Jetstorm and Runway.
Sonar unfortunately is the weakest link of the Air Defense Team, and is typically responsible for the combined toy’s structural shortcomings. Due to its poor engineering, the transparant plastic that makes up Sonar’s means of connecting to his teammates to form the Star Saber is prone to developing small fractures due to stress as a result of supporting the weapon’s weight. Once this happens (and it will), the Star Saber will have even more difficulty holding together when combined.
This mold was also used to make Shade. It was later retooled to make Energon Skyboom, Lens, and Cybertron Ramjet.
