Megatron is a simple toy based on his Energon appearance, lacking in any articulation other than that related to his transformation. He came with a green energon cube (bizarrely called a "missile”), which fits inside his body and lights up with a green LED when triggered by the toy’s infra-red remote control, itself shaped like Megatron’s tank. Unreleased in the United States, Megatron and his fellow Happy Meal toys initially appeared in (at least) the Netherlands in September 2004, before making their way to the United Kingdom in February 2005, to New Zealand in March, and to Australia in November.
In 2006, a retooled version was released in Brazil, completely covering its back with more purple plastic, although its interior is still left hollow. This change was due to the lack of accessories in this release and stands unique as the other Brazilian-released figures didn’t had their gaps covered.
