Part of the fourth wave of 2012-onwards Generations Deluxe Class toys, Fall of Cybertron "Autobot Whirl” is a blue and orange redeco and retool of Fall of Cybertron Vortex, with a new head sculpt based on Generation 1 Whirl. He transforms into a Cybertronian assault helicopter with a double-barreled gun at the front end of the cockpit.
Whirl comes with two swords, which feature sculpted weapon barrels on the underside and can be either held as swords or as rifles with "bayonets” in robot mode, and can also be attached to the skid-like sections on both sides of the cockpit, both via 5mm post. In addition, he also comes with a brand new quintuple-barreled cannon which can extend and spin its barrels, and features three 5mm posts and two ports.
In addition to his robot and vehicle modes, Whirl can also combine with his fellow Wreckers into Ruination and serve as any of the gestalt robot’s four limbs, though his official configuration is either the right leg (shown in the instructions) or the left leg (shown in stock photos.) His arm mode has 5mm-compatible hands, and the swords can be combined with the other Wreckers’ weapons into a huge weapon for Ruination to wield.
The original version of this mold was also used to make Generation 2 Vortex. This mold also served as the basis of the non-toy characters Cloud Whirl and Wings Universe Rotorstorm.
