During Autumn, the wallaby sheds its dark brown fur revealing a lighter coat that provides camouflage against the grasses that sprout around its rocky home.
The allied rock-wallaby was originally thought to be more widespread, but since genetic testing was introduced, five more distinct wallaby species were discovered, only distinguishable by their different chromosomes.
