呪怨 The Grudge

東京近郊的這座凶宅因兇案頻發而小有名氣，一個攝製組決定以此為題錄製節目，恐怖片演員京子、主持人朋香、化妝師惠美、導演圭介等人共同參與了錄製，錄製過程中有怪事發生，而在節目錄製之後，真正的恐怖才正式開始，所有參與的人員無一例外都遭受了詛咒，分別在不同時間慘遭不幸，甚至連他們身邊的人如京子的媽媽和朋香的男友，也都沒能倖免。

Karen Davis moves to Tokyo, where she encounters a supernatural spirit that possesses its victims. After a series of horrifying and mysterious deaths, Karen makes a vow to stop any further deaths.

在主要情節發生的數年前，佐伯剛雄發現妻子伽椰子愛上了另一個男人後，殺害了她，還殺死了家中的貓マー和兒子俊雄。這些謀殺案產生了一個詛咒，使全家人復活為怨靈，伽椰子的鬼魂殺死了剛雄。任何進入他們在東京練馬的這所房子的人最終都會被詛咒吞噬，這詛咒還會蔓延到他們死亡的地方，繼續吞噬任何進入那裏的人。

理佳繼續過着平常的日子。她的朋友真理子是個小學老師，去學生俊雄家家訪，因為俊雄從未上過課。理佳急忙去救她，但為時已晚。伽椰子的鬼魂來找她，理佳目睹了伽椰子短暫地變成了她的樣子。她意識到自己注定要重演詛咒和伽椰子的命運。在俊雄從樓梯欄杆上觀望時，剛雄的鬼魂走下樓梯殺死了她。
已是青年的小泉與朋友們來到了這棟房子，但逃走了，而她的朋友們被伽椰子殺死；這便是遠山來到房子時看到的事件，是對未來的預見。兩週後，小泉的另外兩個朋友來看她並送來一些照片。一則新聞報導確認理佳的屍體在佐伯住處被發現，此前她被報告失蹤。她們發現小泉因拋棄朋友而感到內疚，並變得越來越偏執，她的母親也受到詛咒的影響。當小泉的朋友們離開時，她們發現她和她死去朋友們在照片中眼睛都被塗黑了。小泉遇到了她死去的父親的幻象，隨後發現她朋友們的鬼魂正在注視她。她被死去的朋友們逼到角落，伽椰子出現並將她拖入詛咒中。

Several years before the main plot takes place, Takeo Saeki murders his wife Kayako after discovering that she has fallen in love with another man, as well as the family’s cat Ma and son Toshio. The murders created a curse that resurrected the entire family as vengeful spirits, with Kayako’s ghost killing Takeo. Anyone who enters their house in Nerima, Tokyo will eventually be consumed by the curse, which will also spread to the place where they died and continue to consume anyone who enters there.
The latest owners of the house are the Tokunaga family, consisting of salaryman Katsuya, his wife Kazumi, and his sick mother Yukie. Kazumi is soon consumed by the curse, and Katsu dies after being emotionally influenced by Takeo. Kayako’s ghost follows Katsuya’s sister Hitomi to her office, where she kills a security guard, and then to her apartment, where she also kills her.
Social worker Rika is assigned by her boss Hirohashi to take care of Yukie. She discovers Toshio and witnesses Yukie being killed by Kayako’s ghost, causing her to pass out. Hirohashi discovered Rika and contacted the police. Detectives Nakagawa and Igarashi discover the bodies of Katsuya and Kazumi in the attic, and later learn of Hitomi’s disappearance and the death of the security guard at her workplace. Soon Hirohashi’s body is found and Rika is haunted by ghosts.
After researching the history of the house and the Saeki murder, Nakagawa and Igarashi contact retired detective Toyama, but he is afraid to reinvestigate the case. Yuanshan went to burn down the house, but heard the voices of several girls upstairs. One escaped, the others were devoured. Kayako then appears and chases Toyama, but kills Nakagawa and Igarashi. Toyama eventually retired to seclusion and died from the curse, leaving behind his young daughter Koizumi.
Rika continued to live her normal life. Her friend Mariko is an elementary school teacher who goes to visit her student Toshio at his home because he has never attended classes. Rika rushed to save her, but it was too late. Kayako’s ghost comes to visit her, and Rikka witnesses Kayako briefly transform into her appearance. She realizes that she is doomed to repeat the curse and Kayako’s fate. As Jun-woong watches from the stair railing, Gang-woong’s ghost walks down the stairs and kills her.
Koizumi, now a young woman, arrives at the house with her friends but escapes, and her friends are killed by Kayako; this is the event that Toyama sees when he arrives at the house, a foretelling of the future. Two weeks later, two more of Koizumi’s friends came to see her and brought her some photos. A news report confirmed that Rika’s body was found at Saeki’s residence, after she was reported missing. They discover that Koizumi is feeling guilty for abandoning her friends and is becoming increasingly paranoid, and that her mother is also being affected by the curse. When Koizumi’s friends left, they discovered that she and her dead friends had their eyes blacked out in the photos. Koizumi encounters a vision of her dead father, and later discovers that the ghosts of her friends are watching her. She is cornered by her dead friends, and Kayako appears and drags her into the curse.
On the almost deserted streets of Tokyo, posters of missing persons were scattered on the ground. Rikka’s corpse, now with long hair similar to Kayako’s, lies in the attic of the house, suddenly waking up with a death gurgling sound.
