Following a robbery attempt at the home of Michael and Karen Carr (Kurt Russell; Madeline Stowe), Los Angeles policeman Officer Pete Davis (Ray Liotta) makes their safety his personal concern. But his excessive interest soon becomes frightening as he seemingly forces his way into their lives at every turn. Gradually they realize they must escape from their protector who’s now become an aggressive and menacing enemy.
