Game Summary:
Six months after his incarceration at the hands of Mega Man, the mad scientist Dr. Wily, having forseen his own eventual capture, sends a new wave of Robot Masters to help him escape. Upon hearing about the daring jailbreak, Dr. Light dispatches Mega Man to apprehend Wily, but instead the Blue Bomber finds himself challenged by a new robot, Bass, and his canine companion Treble. The two robots spar briefly before Mega Man gains the upper hand, and Bass eventually confesses that he is hunting Dr. Wily as well. Confused, but relieved to have new allies on his side, Mega Man continues on his mission of eliminating the Robot Masters.
Later on, Mega Man encounters a damaged Bass, who he directs to Dr. Light for repairs. After defeating Wily’s eight robots, Mega Man returns home to find the lab in shambles; Dr. Light informs him that in the midst of his repairs, Bass had somehow gone berserk and stolen some new parts that he had originally developed for Mega Man. At that moment, Dr. Wily appears on screen in the lab and reveals that Bass and Treble were his creations, and that he had merely gained their trust in order to steal the parts to eliminate Mega Man once and for all.
Undaunted, Mega Man sets out for Wily’s new fortress. Utilizing a new set of parts developed by Dr. Light, Mega Man defeats both Bass and Wily in turn, but rather than simply re-capture the mad scientist, Mega Man decides that Wily is too dangerous to be kept alive and prepares to kill him, thereby violating his own programming. However, Wily’s fortress begins to self-destruct, distracting Mega Man long enough for Bass to swoop in and rescue his creator. Mega Man then leaves the compound to explode as he makes his way back home.
