Shrapnel is a redeco of the Diaclone Waruder Insecter Robo ”Kuwagatrer” toy, transforming into a robotic stag beetle. As a Diaclone mold he has a ”pilot compartment” revealed by opening his clear-yellow chest, but on its own there’s not much you can do with it.Like the other Insecticons, he has a variation on his chromed parts, but this one is on his gun. Some Shrapnels have ”fins” on the very back-end of the rifle and a more detailed main barrel, while others (obviously) lack those details. The extra-detail versions appear to be a later run.Shrapnel’s package art depicts him with two left arms.In Japan, Shrapnel and the other Insecticons were ”re-released” as mail-order items from 1987 through 1988. They each cost 880 yen (their normal retail price) and two Robot Points.This mold was used to make the Zaptrap drones.
