Studio Series WWII Hot Rod is a retool of WWII Bumblebee, transforming into a Humber Light Reconnaissance Car rather than a Steyr-Daimler-Puch 2000 truck. Despite this, some of his robot body parts are based on the on-screen vehicle kibble. He also comes with a blaster that doubles as a vehicle mode artillery barrel. Due to the lack of the multiple-barreled handgun from the original mold, Hot Rod’s turret swivel is left bare.
Like WWII Bumblebee, Hot Rod also features a psuedo-Automorph gimmick: His front chest panel can be pushed up and down, retracting/extending his head as long it faces upwards. Also, due to his transformation scheme, Hot Rod is a shellformer, with the majority of the vehicle shells hanging on his rear like a backpack. Speaking of vehicle shells, the ”backpack” also blocks the tab hole for display stands unless it’s slightly lifted up. His package artwork depicts him with two identical weapons despite the toy only coming with one.
