Part of the fifth wave of Studio Series Deluxe Class toys, "WWII Bumblebee” is based on his appearance during World War II in The Last Knight. Rather than transforming into the Mercedes-Benz car as seen in the movie, however, he transforms into an armored car as in Josh Nizzi’s concept art for the character — though it’s a different armored car, being a Humber Light Reconnaissance Car rather than a Humber Scout Car! Bumblebee’s Warhammer, based on the one used in World War II (and can double as a monotone version of the warhammer used in his fight against Optimus), doubles as a vehicle mode artillery barrel, with his handgun transforming into a top-mounted turret. As an unadvertised feature, the hammer can be mounted on the back with the handle facing upwards to the left.
In a near-unnoticeable detail, the Autobot insignia can be seen on his forehead, and it blends very badly with the green plastic.
WWII Bumblebee also features a pseudo-Automorph gimmick: His front chest panel can be pushed up and down, retracting/extending his head as long it faces upwards. Also, due to his transformation scheme, WWII Bumblebee is a shellformer, with the majority of the vehicle shells hanging on his rear like a backpack. Speaking of vehicle shells, the "backpack” also blocks the tab hole for display stands unless it’s slightly lifted up. While the turret base can be rotated, the Pistol’s handle is loose enough to swivel while mounted on, rendering the feature pointless. In a rather baffling design flaw: The holes on the (seemingly) bobbling chest panel are meant to lock with the shoulder joint’s tabs, though both the shoulder joint and chest tabs are too further to be tabbed on. On the bright side, the arms are not easily dislodged further from the central body as the backpack is holding the shoulder joints/rear wheel kibble in place.
This mold was retooled as WWII Hot Rod.
