After Ozzel committed a fatal mistake during the hunt for the Rebels, Darth Vader rather dramatically ‘dismissed’ Ozzel, and promoted Piett to Admiral. Piett served in this capacity during the Battle of Endor, where he perished when an A-wing starfighter crashed into the Executor’s bridge.
