Jerry “The King” Lawler has ruled over his sports entertainment empire for decades. Today, largely known as a commentator by WWE fans, Lawler entered the ring professionally in the 1970s. As “The King,” Lawler challenged Kaufman, who was not a sports entertainer but solely a comedic one. The undersized Kaufman was no match for Lawler’s pile drivers and suffered a neck injury as a result. Another battle between the two was broadcast live on The David Letterman Show. Throughout Lawler’s illustrious career, he has kept fans in guess mode, playing both hero and villain at various times. He has also undoubtedly been an inspiration to the WWE universe when he returned to the ring at the age of 61 for a match, as well as receiving numerous titles, including five Slammy Awards and being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
