Released as part of the first wave of the Transformers R.E.D. line, Soundwave is a non-transforming 6-inch action figure akin to the ones from the Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series lines. He is highly articulated and features extensive paint operations in an attempt to re-create a Google Images search’s best guess at his appearance in the show.
Soundwave includes a number of accessories. He features two pairs of interchangeable hands: a set of two closed fists, a right hand to hold his included Concussion Blaster, and a left hand posed with his index finger out to press his eject button. Speaking of which, his eject button actually depresses, opening his translucent cassette door; his cassette tape accessory, which is sculpted and coloured like Laserbeak, can store inside his chest. Soundwave’s shoulder-mounted cannon, attached by a swivel joint, is advertised as an accessory and can be removed, though it has no handle to be held like a gun. Oddly, his backpack (i.e. his cassette mode battery compartment) is also an accessory according to his product description; it can be removed and just... set aside, we guess.
As with all R.E.D. toys, Soundwave was a Walmart exclusive in Canada and the United States, and was later made available on Hasbro Pulse in limited quantities.
