Kelton, the leader of a tribe of wandering nomads, asks Xena for help in recovering a chest containing the most powerful weapon in the world. Xena agrees and enlists Autolycus’s help in stealing the chest back from teh evil warlord Malthus, who intends to sell its to the highest bidder. Autolycus, posing as the infamous assassin Lord Sinteres, and Xena, disguised as his slave girl Cherish, journey to Malthus’s castle, where they are exposed before they can accomplish their task. During a battle with Malthus’s goons, the chest is opened, allowing blinding light to escape. Having read the inscription on the lid that warns not to fear the truth, Xena tells her companions to stand still. Malthus’s warriors run and are turned to ash by the intense light. After the battle, Xena returns the chest to Kelton and his people, who thank her for her help.
