Title:
CM Punk (SES) “Loose” Complete
Description:
Up until 2010, two characteristics had defined CM Punk, an allegiance to the straight-edge lifestyle and his long black hair. Although the former trait has never been up for contention, Punk’s hair was surrendered to Rey Mysterio after he lost a “Hair vs. Allegiance” Match at Over the Limit 2010. Fans watched in disbelief as Mysterio handcuffed the “Straight-Edge Superstar” to the ropes and shaved off his signature hair, leaving him disheveled and humiliated.
The following week on SmackDown, Punk arrived to compete in a qualifying match for Fatal 4-Way 2010 with a towel covering his head. Fans assumed he was embarrassed by his new appearance, but when the towel was removed, Punk’s newly shaven head was covered with a black mask. Keeping his shame hidden from the WWE Universe had instilled in him a newfound confidence.
After competing for months with his face and head covered, CM Punk was finally unmasked by Big Show on the July 16, 2010 episode of SmackDown. From that point on, Punk embraced his new appearance and competed without a mask, beginning a new chapter in his WWE career.
