In the weeks leading up to their WWE Championship match at WrestleMania XXVIII, the rivalry between Chris Jericho and CM Punk turned personal. Jericho taunted Punk by revealing family secrets to the WWE Universe. Punk was enraged, and he went into the match with a larger score to settle than simply deciding who was the “Best in the World”. Raw general manager John Laurinaitis added a stipulation that Punk could lose the WWE Championship on a disqualification, which Jericho attempted to exploit during the match. In the end, Punk locked Jericho in his patented Anaconda Vice and forced his opponent to tap out to retain his title.
