Ultra Class Thunderhowl transforms from knight-themed robot to mechanical wolf. He comes with his sword and a removable cape. His wolf tail is also removable and can be pegged onto either of his hip plates to act as a scabbard for his sword which can be stored in the tail in both modes.
Like Clobber and Rack’n’Ruin before him, Thunderhowl is surprisingly articulated for a Cyberverse Ultra Class figure, featuring an Energon Armor gimmick like everyone else in his sub-line. Unlike his counterparts though, activation of said gimmick is rather restricted. Thunderhowl’s cape has to be removed to allow for clearance to deploy the armor, then the wolf head chestplate must be removed to trigger the mechanism and allow the armor to sit flush on his chest.
Care should be taken when removing the cape; as the plastic is sturdy and pliable, but the pegs are very tiny and could snap off if too much pressure is applied. Though his plastic is greener than black, Thunderhowl’s sculpting is more show-accurate than his Deluxe Class figure above.
Just like the Deluxe Class version, Ultra Class Thunderhowl was also released twice: First in 2020 under the Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures subline imprint, and then again in 2021 in the line’s final Dinobots Unite subline imprint packaging refresh.
