The sole new release in the third wave of Kingdom Leader Class toys, Galvatron transforms from an extremely accurate robot into a treaded, tripod "Galactic cannon” in 33 steps. In a first, by concealing the base of the cannon within the robot torso, the toy’s transformation manages to depict the purple-upper body-to-grey-cannon trick as seen in the animation, a design goal since the 2008 Universe toy. The rear "leg” of the cannon is on multiple hinges, allowing the toy to aim at different elevations. He features printed light purple "battle damage” on his upper torso and painted battle damage on his lower legs, similar to figures from the previous two War for Cybertron Trilogy toylines. As part of the C.O.M.B.A.T. System/F.O.S.S.I.L. Technology, Galvatron has multiple 5 mm ports, though is missing 3 mm posts on his body for Fire Blast effects.Galvatron’s particle beam cannon can mount onto multiple 5 mm ports, including his forearm or upper arm, or separate into two pieces for cannon mode. He also includes the Matrix of Leadership, modified from the one first included with Earthrise Optimus Prime. The new molding allows it to mount onto an included chain via 5 mm post, which can rest around his neck or attach at the base of the cannon barrel in his alternate mode.
Galvatron also includes two unpainted grey, War for Cybertron Trilogy Unicron-scaled Revenge ships that can be held by Galvatron as blasters, combine into a larger gun, store on his back (at two-different heights), or attach parallel to the barrel in his cannon mode.Earlier specimens of Galvatron have a misassembly in the robot shoulders: the center joint is installed upside-down, causing the shoulders to sit lower than intended. The height issue can be fixed by using the reversible transformation joint, but this results in two flathead pins being left prominently exposed. The holes that the pins are placed in are 5mm compatible, so you may be able to use the misassembly to your advantage. A running change corrected the shoulder assembly; the condition of the shoulders is visible in packaged specimens.In cannon mode, Galvatron’s shoulders tab into slots on his lower chest. These slots open on both the rear and the sides of his chest - but attempting to insert the tabs through the side openings will almost immediately leave large white stress marks on the purple plastic.Much like most of the toyline, Galvatron comes with one of four possible holographic Golden Disk cards for his wave, which reveals a possible destiny of a key character. Specifically, Megatron’s destiny for his wave is becoming Galvatron.
