Title:
Thrust
Description:
Thrust (Voyager Class, 2020)
Hasbro ID number: WFC-E26
TakaraTomy ID number: ER EX-24
TakaraTomy release date: April 24, 2021
Accessories: 2 null-rays
As part of the Earthrise Cybertronian Villains subline, Thrust is a retooling of Ramjet, who in-turn is a heavy retooling of Starscream from the same line. Thrust transforms into a modified F-15 fighter jet with VTOL turbofan wings like his original toy, in 23 steps. As one of the Coneheads, Thrust features a headsculpt based on the original conehead design, though it is a faux piece not formed from the actual nosecone, and can also facilitate the C.O.M.B.A.T. System.
The figure’s design and transformation scheme are heavily based on the 2006 Classics Starscream mold (and its subsequent retool of Ramjet), while adding points of articulation the earlier figure did not have such as pivoting ankles and a more expressive ball-jointed head. However, due to this, his torso is very hollow at the sides and his intended waist articulation was dropped due to the physical space required for transformation. His head, chest, and wings are susceptible to paint chipping due to the transformation scheme. Interestingly, Thrust lacks the black color on the actual nosecone that the other Coneheads have.
If one chooses, Thrust’s wings can be faced upwards in robot mode to recreate the Classics figure included in the "Games of Deception!” set, or to homage Timelines Nacelle, though they cannot hinge back to facilitate backward arm movement.
Due to the figure’s lack of landing gear, the jet mode must lay on Thrust’s painted knees if not on a flight stand, so exercise caution when moving the jet mode across a surface to avoid paint chipping.
Thrust spent a while not being fully unveiled, with the product copy for the July 2020 Ramjet and Dirge set, mentioning "WFC-E26 Thrust sold separately”.[2] Thrust’s jet mode is also shown in the box art on that set, and he makes an even more prominent appearance on Earthrise Sky Lynx’s box art. The toy finally got an official reveal on Hasbro Pulse on the October 16th Fan First Friday.
Due to his status in the War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon, the cardboard backdrop features a Mercenary symbol instead of Decepticon. Also on that backdrop, like all Earthrise toys, is an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map, with a thin red piece of transparent plastic to read the star map. Thrust’s piece of the map contains the labeled location of "NEXUS ZERO”, but unfortunately continues wave 2’s trend of misprinting with the "decodable” red graphics from the map piece included with Earthrise Starscream on top of the details unique to Thrust’s piece. Much like the other Earthrise Seekers (except for Starscream), Thrust is marked as part of "TEAM: SEEKER ELITE”.
Thrust was exclusively available at Target in the US and at TakaraTomy Mall in Japan, though he was available at general retail in Hasbro’s Asian markets such as Taiwan and Singapore. Despite being marked as WFC-E26 (out of 41), he was the last numbered Earthrise toy to be released.
