Part of the fifth wave of 2012-onwards Generations Deluxe Class toys, this Thrilling 30 Bumblebee is a new mold with a robot mode based on the character’s body from IDW’s The Transformers vol. 1 ongoing series; more specifically, it is the version used by Guido Guidi in issue #21. He transforms into a muscle car that resembles a fifth generation Ford Mustang, and comes with two "stinger blasters” which peg via 5mm post into his hands, forearms, and rear vehicle sides, and can also combine into a large weapon.
The American release is packed in with a copy of Spotlight: Bumblebee, with a cropped version of the Clayton Crain RI cover that is called out as a ’Hasbro Exclusive Cover’. In European and Canadian markets the figure is packed without the comic.
For some reason, Hasbro’s official stock photos provided to retailers which depict a (pre-)production sample, including a photo of the toy in packaging, feature a Bumblebee that lacks the painted stripes on the fake car hood on his robot mode chest. The same applied to the packaged sample on display at BotCon 2013. Fortunately, the final toy sports the stripes after all. For their own official website, Hasbro remedied this with a new set of stock photos that are more representative of the final product... which were later replaced with the inaccurate photos.
This mold was retooled into Generations Nightbeat and Goshooter as well as Timelines Carzap.
