Title:
Sparkplug With Optimus Prime Superbase (Robot Mode)
Description:
Optimus Prime with Sparkplug (Super, 2002)
Takara ID number: MC-01
Takara release date: December 26, 2002
Available only with the Armada Super Base Optimus Prime toy, Sparkplug transforms into a Lamborghini Diablo sports car. As a Mini-Con, he has a "Powerlinx” socket on his vehicle-mode underside which allows him to attach to any toy with a "Powerlinx” style 5 mm post; some toys have special Powerlinx posts that activate/unlock gimmicks when a Mini-Con is attached.
Unlike the vast majority of pack-in partner Mini-Cons in the line, Sparkplug does not have any non-Powerlinx-based interactiivity with his larger partner.
The Takara Legends of the Microns release of "Prime” made a minor change to his deco, giving him medium-gray windows rather than the dark purple of the Hasbro version.
This mold was also used to make Atlas and Rod, and was retooled to make "Corona Sparkplug”, Chrome, Thyristor and Synapse.
