Title:
Transformers WFC Siege Acid Storm (WFC-S52) Ion Storm (WFC-S53) Nova Storm (WFC-S54) 3 Pack
Description:
Seeker Acid Storm / Seeker Ion Storm / Seeker Nova Storm (Multi-pack, 2019/2021)
Hasbro ID number: WFC-S52 / WFC-S53 / WFC-S54
TakaraTomy release date: March 27, 2021
TakaraTomy ID Number: SG-EX
Accessories: 6 ”RM Storm Range Null-Ray Laser Launchers”
Released as a three-pack, the Rainmakers are a trio of redecoes of the Siege Starscream mold from the same line, transforming from a heavily Generation 1-inspired robot to a Cybertronian ’tetrajet’ based on the Seekers’ appearance in ”More than Meets the Eye, Part 1” and back; although the jet mode has the robot legs sticking out from the undercarriage. Each includes two ”HPI Null-Ray Laser Launchers,” which can mount on their upper arms or under the wings in jet mode. All three feature battle damage (with identical application patterns) and use the neutral frowning head sculpt used by Starscream.
Glaringly, Hasbro erroneously recycled the alt-mode stock photo of Thundercracker instead of distributing one of Ion Storm.
Fitting with the rest of Siege, they have 5 mm posts on his biceps, forearms, shins, under his feet (thrusters), and wings. The 3 mm pegs on their shins, forearms, left bicep, and the tips of his Null-Rays can accommodate effects parts sold separately. Like the rest of Siege, their robot mode focuses on articulation, with double-jointed elbows, knees that bend at nearly 180 degrees, ankle rockers, and waist articulation, being notable articulation points for a Seeker toy. Being rather heavy shellformers, they can be separated into both a wingless robot mode and a nearly complete tetrajet easily, via a friction hinge.
This set was made available at general retail in US Target stores (where it would become a recurring shelfwarmer) without prior announcement from Hasbro, and at Entertainment Earth in 2021. It was also released in Canada at general retail in Toys”R”Us stores.
Interestingly, not only was this set was not released in other Hasbro markets, but TakaraTomy scheduled it for release in Japan nearly two full years later. Further, the toys stock photography used versions of the toys with slightly different paint applications.
