Title:
Duststorm
Description:
Duststorm (Legends, 2010)
Part of the third wave of 2010 Transformers toyline Legends Class figures, Duststorm is a redeco of Revenge of the Fallen Springer, transforming into a tan and purple V-22 Osprey helicopter. His twin engines do not pivot upward like a real Osprey, but the propellers themselves can be flipped up to approximate VTOL capability. In a surprising bit of attention to detail, the port and starboard rotors have opposite "handedness”, just like a real aircraft.
Early shipments of Duststorm feature the purple paint operations on his side tanks only on the top and bottom of the front half, the half that winds up on his torso. The back half of the tanks that become his legs are completely unpainted. Inexplicably, the underside of the front half of the tanks are painted a peach color that is only a few shades darker than the plastic color. This paint isn’t visible in vehicle mode (if the vehicle is sitting on a flat surface) and only viewable if you flip the vehicle upside down and/or look at the underside of the vehicle. In robot mode, it is completely obscured, being on the underside of his sides, towards his back. Later releases match the stock photos.
This mold was also used to make Blades from the Kmart-exclusive "War for the Skies” battlepack. It is also the model for the non-toy character Tachikawa Prime.
