The Titan Class figure joining Legacy’s lineup, Metroplex is a fraggin’ huge figure that standing at 22 inches (55 cm) in robot mode according to his Giant Planet origins. While mostly accurate to his source material, his work mode has been edited to be slightly different from his original design, having a new ”welding mask” design for his work-mode head. His robot mode is extensively articulated, even including an opening mouth, and transforms into a Gigantion bucket-wheel excavator in 52 steps.
Metroplex comes with his signature ”Sparkdrinker” axe, which can separate into its rotary saw and excavator claw halves to form the arms of his work mode. It also forms his shovel for his excavator mode. Unfortunately, neither Drill Bit nor his Cyber Planet Key return from the classic series, the former having been cut for budget reasons.
This figure was officially revealed by IGN on April 19, 2022.
Notes:
Metroplex’s ”work” robot mode is not shown in the Japanese release’s instructions. It is only briefly glimpsed in the cartoon, as part of his stock-footage ”vehicle to robot” transformation sequence. Also, several times in the show where Metroplex was depicted in a smaller environment, he was in his ”work” mode without explanation or transformation shown.
During the episode ”Beginning”, the back of his head shows his light-piper for some reason.
Metroplex appears in an Easter egg cameo in IDW’s Lost Light #2.
