The first Selects Titan Class toy, Black Zarak is a retool of Earthrise Scorponok and an add-on to the Legacy toyline. His deco and newly-molded head are highly accurate to his appearance in Super-God Masterforce. The head’s own robot mode has a new battle-damaged chest, and an eyepatch that references Black Zarak’s appearance in Zone.
The toy includes the Tyrant Spear, which is composed of six separate pieces (three pieces of the spearhead, two for the shaft, and one bottom tip). It is meant to be stored in scorpion mode with the two shaft sections and the bottom tip on either side and the combined spearhead forming a larger stinger.
The shaft has grooved areas allowing the robot mode claws to firmly hold it. If one chooses, Black Zarak can also accompany and use the previously released War for Cybertron Trilogy Selects Black Roritchi, although the two figures feature drastically different shades of gold.
Black Zarak can approximate the "dakatsu” mode from "A Battle... and Then...”.
An extra instruction sheet mentions that the collar piece is not needed, and that attempting to install it may scratch the paint on the back of the head.
Having been announced for pre-order 9 months prior to Black Zarak’s ship date, his TransformersTuesday announcement stock images are digitally colored prototype photography. Interestingly, said stock images’ backgrounds have "VICTORY” written in Ancient Autobot, much like War for Cybertron Trilogy Selects Deep Cover.
Black Zarak was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan.
