A redeco of the Armada Mini-Con Crosswise, Nightcruz transforms into a robot head that fits into the shoulders of Rapid Run. By pushing Nightcruz’s arms into the holes in Rapid Run’s shoulders, they reveal a Decepticon sigil under his clear-plastic chestplate.
Nightcruz also forms the lower half of Nightcreeper with Nightscream.
Although Nightcruz allows Rapid Run to reveal himself as a Decepticon when serving as his head, the toy packaging identifies Nightcruz as an Autobot-aligned Mini-Con. Considering the whole eleventh-hour nature of the Rapid Run toy, it’s hard to say which version represents Hasbro’s intent.
Just like Rapid Run himself, Nightscream and Nightcruz are also not depicted in their toys’ actual decos on Rapid Run’s cardback. Instead, the stock photos depicting early prototypes of Rook and Crosswise that were previously used for Armada Sideways’s own cardback were recycled for Rapid Run, with "Nightcruz” even retaining the red paint operations on his shins from the initial production run of Hasbro’s version of Crosswise.
Along the same lines, the name "Nightcruz” was likely selected simply because Hasbro already had that name trademarked thanks to the Robots in Disguise toy of the same name.
