Title:
Scourge Nemesis Prime Black Convoy Robot Mode
Description:
Robots in Disguise 2000 Universe Scourge (Leader Class, 2022)
Accessories: Energon shield, Energon sword, Matrix
Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection "Robots in Disguise 2000 Universe Scourge” (phew!) is a redeco of Legacy mainline Laser Optimus Prime, transforming into a tanker truck. Though he keeps his American naming as Scourge, the pink plastic and "anti-Autobot” symbols are based on the Takara Car Robots Black Convoy deco - and in fact, this toy’s shipping case and the advance listings on many online dealer sites had the name "Black Convoy.” Some stock pictures feature his cab mistransformed, not having his gas canisters on the sides flipped out.
Scourge’s tanker trailer can convert into a battle station, complete with adjustable turret. Scourge also has a pink Energon shield and sword, which can store inside his trailer when not used. He also includes a pink and silver Matrix, which can combine with his sword and shield to create a larger sword.
Scourge’s robot mode features a very black-heavy color scheme, lacking a lot of the cartoon and original toys’ gray parts. Since his chest is painted clear plastic, this is not caused by colors being carried over from other parts on the same sprue. Rather, Hasbro designer Sam Smith said he deliberately went with black paint so the robot chest would better match the truck cab’s appearance of black framing pink windows. The resulting deco coincidentally makes him echo Nemesis Prime.
The Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection was exclusive to Walmart in the US, with Hasbro Pulse receiving limited quantities of the figure. The series went up for pre-order on July 21st 2022, and started arriving in stores by August 1st.
