Title:

Tomahawk

Description:
Tomahawk (Deluxe Class, 2010)

Japanese ID number: AA-12

Accessories: Left & right missile launchers, two missiles

Known designers: Alex Kubalsky (TakaraTomy)

Part of the third wave of 2010 Hunt for the Decepticons toys, Tomahawk transforms into a slightly futuristic strike helicopter with a rotating camera array under its cockpit, sporting an amalgamation of features from both the Eurocopter Tiger and the ADH-02 Hellhound attack helicopter from Patlabor. He comes with spring-loaded missile launchers that mount under his wings via 5 mm posts. In robot mode, he is armed with "snapping pincers” on his right forearm, while his missile launchers end up over his shoulders. They can also be detached and held in his hands via 5 mm post, or clipped onto the mini-guns on his wings or onto his forearms using the C joint system. Tomahawk is fairly unique among helicopter transformers in that his rotors are not attached via a metal pin, but a simple (non-detachable) rotating joint.
The translucent yellow visor on Tomahawk’s robot mode head is glued on and not intended to be removed, but can be pulled off with some effort to reveal a fully molded and painted face including his translucent blue eyes. Unlike most movie-series Transformers which sport comprehensive mechanical detail on their faces, Tomahawk’s face has a smooth, Generation 1-style look.
This sculpt, with its alternate head, was redecoed into Dark of the Moon Vortex and Timelines Spinister. It was also retooled differently (with an all-new head and a new sword accessory) to make Generations GDO Springer. Much like his wave-mate Terradive, Tomahawk’s instructions show him with Vortex/Spinister’s head instead of his own. This mold was also the model for the non-toy Wings Universe incarnation of Blue Bacchus.
