Generations Thrilling 30 Jetfire’s design is an amalgam of the original cartoon/comic model for Jetfire/Skyfire and the original toy. It features removable armor like the original toy, but the toy-inspired head can be removed like a mask to reveal a more proportioned cartoon/comic-inspired head. The jet mode is again based on a navalized F-22 Raptor with F-14 Tomcat-like variable geometry wings (The F-14 itself being the inspiration for the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie design), but with a faux cockpit reminiscent of his Skyfire’s character model underneath the jet’s fuselage, most notably the faux squared-off nosecone in his robot mode. The toy’s add-on booster pack which can be rotated 360 degrees, arm and leg mounted cannons are vacuum-metallized bright metallic red.
Jetfire also carries a vacuum-metallized spring-loaded "photon” missile launcher/rifle. All five weapons can combine into a larger weapon, and the removable face armor can be stowed by plugging into the rifle while both arm cannons can also be attached to the peg hole located on both sides of his Turbo Thruster pack. This toy first appeared as Jetfire’s new body in the "Dawn of the Autobots” arc of The Transformers: Robots in Disguise.
All versions of this mold have a design flaw in the strut that connects the pelvis to the chest. The very small, very thin plastic on either side of where the strut pins in between the legs has a tendency to eventually break, especially after repeated transformations. The primary cause appears to be when the friction pin starts to work its way into both the inner and outer pieces. Checking the clearance between the pieces and the position of the pin can help prevent untimely damage. Some units also have an insanely tight pin hole here, where it requires less force to ratchet the pieces apart than to rotate properly. Removing the pin and opening the hole on the inner piece of the joint can also lengthen the effective lifespan of the figure.
This mold was also retooled into Generations Combiner Wars Thundercracker, Starscream, and Skywarp
