TakaraTomy’s release of Safeguard can be obtained through purchasing both Jetfire and Jetstorm, available either as individually-packed deluxes or as a 2-pack like the Hasbro release, though the 2-pack retailed for slightly less than buying the two individual deluxes.
Jetfire and Jetstorm (Entertainment Pack, 2008)
Animated Safeguard is a symmetrical-style combiner, one of the first instances of such in the Transformers brand (though Takara had already used the concept extensively in King of Braves GaoGaiGar). Jetfire forms his right half, while Jetstorm forms his left half.
Safeguard is one of the few combiners who also has a separate vehicle mode from the combined parts. Unfortunately, it’s just Jetstorm’s and Jetfire’s alt modes combined at the bottom to form a "super jet”.
He has a rather frustrating problem in that his crotch won’t stay assembled in gestalt form.
