Title:
Prowl
Description:
Prowl (Deluxe, 2008)
Takara ID number: TA-05
Accessories: 2 bladed mecha stars, traffic light "chain” weapon
Known designers: Eric Siebenaler (Hasbro), Alex Kubalsky (TakaraTomy)
Part of the first wave of Animated Deluxe Class toys, Prowl transforms into a black and gold police "superbike” of made-up model. Two of his hubcaps are removable, and they both can reconfigure into three-bladed "mecha stars” which he can hold in robot mode. The mecha stars have a pseudo-automorph feature; pulling out on one blade simultaneously opens the other two. He also comes with a traffic light "chain” weapon which he can hold in robot mode, but it cannot be stowed in superbike mode. Unfortunately, it also has a tendency to break his thumbs off if held by the handle. As advertised on the back of the box, his rear bike mode lights can flip forward to form "flash blasters”.
Partly due to his lithe proportions, as well as both the waist ball joint and double-jointed knees required for his transformation, Prowl is extremely poseable.
The Japanese TakaraTomy release features a glossy, shiny paint job for the entire front of his bike, painting his headlights, and having an almost vac-metal-like finish for his headlights and gold parts. The Autobot insignia on his abdomen/vehicle front is now in full color, bordered in white.
