Title:
Breakdown Menasor Stunticon 4/5
Description:
Breakdown (Deluxe Class, 2015)
4 of 5: Menasor
Accessories: sword/gun, gun/fist/foot
Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro)
Part of the second wave of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class toys, Breakdown transforms from a supercar resembling a Lamborghini Diablo crossed with a Kode 0 to robot and back. As a Combiner Wars Deluxe, he is able to form a limb for any Combiner Wars-style Voyager figure but is, of course, intended to be combined with Motormaster, Drag Strip, Dead End, Offroad, and Blackjack to create Menasor. He is also officially associated with Galvatronus.
The limb piece can connect on the vehicle mode’s top in two different ways: either by using the 5mm peghole arrangement most of the other Stunticons use, or through a system of tabs which incorporate the weapon closer to the vehicle, evoking the custom engines Sunstreaker had for some reason. The limb piece can also be stored on the robot’s back, a feature also shown in the figure’s package art, also evoking the custom engines Sunstreaker had for some reason (this can either be achieved by using the 5 mm peg, or by folding back the limb piece’s palm and thumb, and using the guide-rails located on the sides of the limb piece). Breakdown’s sword/gun can tab into either of the slots on the car mode’s sides.
Strangely, unlike the other Stunticons, Breakdown’s limb piece is not molded in purple plastic, but instead molded in black and painted a more blue-ish shade of purple, causing it to stand out among the other Stunticon hands and feet.
Breakdown comes with a copy of Combiner Wars #5 (actually Robots in Disguise #13). In non-U.S. releases, he comes with a collector card featuring art from the episode "The Thin Blue Line” of Transformers Legends.
As a part of the first and second wave promotion in Hasbro’s Asian markets, a free sticker sheet for the Aerialbots and Stunticons was given out when purchasing any four Deluxe Class toys from those waves. As such, Breakdown was given Generation 1 toy-esque stickers for the owner to apply if they wanted.
This mold was differently retooled each time to make Sunstreaker, Jumpstream, Wheeljack, Ravage, and Wrecker Counterpunch. It also served as the model for the non-toy Of Masters and Mayhem incarnation of Sideswipe and the Spatiotemporal Challengers incarnation of Turbo.
