Part of the first wave of Studio Series Gamer Edition figures, "Gamer Edition Optimus Prime” is based on his appearance in the War for Cybertron video game, and transforms into a Cybertronian truck in 22 steps. Like the other Studio Series Gamer Edition figures, Optimus comes with a blaster accessory that replaces his right forearm, which is attached to a 5 mm port in his elbow and can be stored on his back while his or any other Gamer Edition figure’s blaster is in use. The blaster also has a 3mm blast effect post on the end of the blaster, sticking out, instead of the usual hollow-barrel design used for blasters of this size. He also comes with his large battle axe, which is comprised of two handle pieces and a headpiece, as well as a Matrix of Leadership accessory which is stored inside his chest cavity. Both the axe and blaster can also be attached to his roof in vehicle mode.
Notably, Optimus’ axe accessory has been designed so it can assume both configurations as seen in the game; the larger blade can be left folded in half for a halberd-style weapon, as seen in cinematic cutscenes, or unfolded to make a double-bladed axe, as seen during actual gameplay. Sadly, due to how the vehicle mode parts are stored, Optimus does not have the engraved Autobot insignia on his back like his game counterpart and the original Generations figure listed above.
In a borderline unnoticeable case of misassembly, every single one of Optimus’ wheels is on the incorrect side, as shown in the vehicle mode product render. The detailing is intended to point down instead of up to replicate the in-game tire model. To remedy this, swap the left wheels to the right side and vice-versa. There are also color-consistency issues with the red plastic and painted red plastic on the panels in vehicle mode. The figure is also back heavy and is prone to falling backward. It is also recommended to lift the entire waist-down area up while transforming the arms into place to best avoid paint damages or clearance issues.
