Matching elements: To capture a villain, you must use a trap that matches its element. The Life Sword trap can only capture Life element villains.
Capturing villains: When a Life villain is defeated, the trap captures it. You can then load the villain into the trap to use them later.
Using captured villains: You can switch between playing as your Skylander and the captured villain at any time.
Loading villains: You can load up to one villain per trap, and bring a selection of captured villains into a level with you.
Alternative use: In the SuperChargers game, a trap placed in the Portal gives a vehicle an elemental power-up based on the trap’s element.
