This whiskey is like biting into a raisin cake. We selected it at cask strength because it was amazing (they sampled us both the diluted version, and cask strength). Barreled for 2+ years in standard charred (medium) white oak, it was then aged for over a year in a Madeira cask before Blackwell’s was able to seize it. This is an amazing rye whiskey.
And as a bonus Scott Harris, owner at Catoctin Creek says, ”Here at the distillery, we’re only an hour from Mount Vernon (George Washington’s hon and Madeira was one of his favorite beverages, so I like that historical tie. too.”
