An independent bottling of Fettercairn, courtesy of Cadenhead. This 15 year old whisky has been matured in a combination of 60 % ex-PX sherry casks and 40 % ex-bourbon casks.

Nose:
Juicy and rich fruitiness. Figs, dates and raisins. With time also earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. With further time the PX influence takes over more and more - and it is a fine influence at that. A touch herbal, rich, warm, honey sweet, softy oaky and deeply fruity.
Taste:
Rich and full bodied. Again big of fruitiness. Dark, sweet and most definitely with a PX influence. Some spiciness - white pepper and cinnamon. A touch of oakiness.
Finish:
Medium long. The bourbon casks do get their fifteen seconds of fame now with a wave of lighter fruitiness of the more tropical persuasion, as well as notes of icing sugar and marshmallows (dipped in PX syrup!).
