After such positive reviews for our Lochindaal releases last year we were lucky enough to secure another cask of (possibly) the rarest Islay spirit. To release another 2010 bourbon-matured Lochindaal seemed a bit too soon, so with some trepidation we thought a quality re-racking would add a new exciting layer of flavour to this wonderful whisky! After re-racking into a first fill port barrique we kept a close eye on the maturation and after seven months decided it was ready for bottling.
This is a re-rack that has added not just obvious colour, but a wonderful red fruit flavour. It does not mask the true delicate character of Lochindaal whisky but accentuates it. We may be wrong – do tell us – but we think that this is the first Lochindaal ever matured in port a barrique.
