Benromach Peat Smoke Distilled

Description:
The 2007 vintage Benromach Peat Smoke, made with barley peated to 67ppm and matured in first fill bourbon barrels. Explore the smoky side of Benromach’s malts!

Featured in the 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book.

Matured in First fill Bourbon barrels and peated to 62PPM and made from 100% Scottish barley.

Nose:
Sweet vanilla, honey and cured meats, hints of apricot, sugared almond and lemon combining with a beautiful subtle tobacco note.

Palate:
Cracked black pepper, sweet strawberry, orange, aniseed, bonfire embers that with water reveals slow cooked apple, pear and tangy grapefruit, a trace of cocoa powder and lingering cigar smoke.

Finish:
Seriously smoky and spicy with lingering tobacco, cured meat and sweet undertones of vanilla, honey and apricot.

The 2007 Vintage release of this may well be more mature in taste than its youthfull 8 years in wood, proving again that age is just a number and not always a great way of choosing whisky as you would miss out on this superb Benromach for instance.

Nose:
Rum-glazed ham, with subtle wafts of lemon and thyme.

Palate:
Milk chocolate, liquorice root, BBQ char.

Finish:
Spiced fruit and gummy bears.
