That’s why I almost fell out of my chair when these barrels came across my desk. We released a 15-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon a couple of years ago from a different source. I knew going in there were big shoes to fill. I fell in love with this whiskey the first time I tasted it. It’s brown sugar, clove, and sweet oak. As we seek the best whiskey for our Seelbach’s Spirits label, I hope you try these bottles.
We’re exploring the uncharted with Seelbach’s Private Reserve! Our goal is to bring the best quality bourbon we can source with each release. When I first sampled this blend several months ago, I knew it was special. I saw other bottles on the market. I knew we could make an incredible Private Reserve release from this bourbon.
Distilled and Aged in Kentucky, bottled in Jacksonville, FL

Mash Bill: 75/13/12 Corn/Rye/Malted Barley
Bottle Count: 900 bottles
Tasting Notes: The nose is rounded. There are notes of brown sugar and dried black cherries. A touch of sweet oak on the back to showcase the age. While the oak is subtle initially it quickly evolves to eucalyptus and herbal notes.
While the nose is great, this comes alive on the palate. Loads of toffee, black tea, cloves, dried fig and custard. It’s a balancing act you don’t often see in bourbon aged this long. The sweetness is still there. The oak and tannins play nicely while showcasing dried fruit and herbal notes. All of this leads to a long, cedar box and aged tobacco finish.
