SINGLE ESTATE: MESA COLORADA
The landscape of our our rancho Mesa Colorada (Red Table) is flat and rests atop a hill, with rich red soil that is characteristic of the highlands of Jalisco. It is surrounded by hillsides of volcanic gray clay. The field is located southwest of the town of Jesús Mara, Jalisco, about 28km from our distillery in Avardas. The field size is 14ha (30 acres) at an average of 1915 meters (6,225 Jeet) above sea level. At the moment of harvest, the agaves were extremely mature, with the red pinto showing on the piña indicating overripeness. At an average weight of 33 pounds each, and a high concentration of sugars in the plant, making for an exceptional tequila.
Nose: Green, mineral & vegetal, with a lavender cooked agave, spiced, orange peel, and mint. Fresh subtle notes of anise.
Palate: You’ll find the classic Ocho notes of agave and white pepper, with the palate expanding into fresh herbs, minerality, and dried fruits.
