Buzzard’s Roost was created by Jason Brauner, the former co-owner of the influential Bourbons Bistro in Louisville, Kentucky. Their bourbons are originally sourced from MGP’s Ross & Squibb Distillery before being rebarreled in a brand new charred oak barrel that is custom ordered to Buzzard’s Roost’s specifications. Kindred Collaboration Bourbon takes this last step further by resting the bourbon in specially designed toasted wave-stave barrels, which take smooth ridges that are cut lengthwise creating peaks and valleys that react differently during toasting and charring. The idea is that it increases interaction with the bourbon while it ages.
The secondary barrel maturation process, using heavily toasted French oak staves in this case, is a hallmark of Buzzard’s Roost and contributes significantly to its unique flavor profile
