Rums from the tiny island of Marie Galante are perhaps the rarest on the planet. The island is also famed for possessing the best terroir in the world for sugar cane production. For this exquisite brand, master distiller Vittorio Gianni Capovilla produces all of the spirit from very slowly fermented, fresh-pressed cane juice in tiny double boiler Muller pot stills. Kalamata olives, rock candy, fresh-cut flowers, cucumber juice, and apricot are all there on the nose. The palate is clean and sweeter than the nose with banana, honeydew, and a hint of bitter dandelion greens. This is one of the highest quality rums in the world.
