Title:
Walt’s Convertible 389/500
Description:
”Walt’s Convertible” SOLD-OUT Limited Edition Cel Featuring Walt, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Huey, Dewey & Louie #389/500 (Walt Disney, 1992). Long Sold-Out, exceedingly RARE and hard-to-find! This is the first limited edition in the ”Walt’s Photo Album” series release in 1992 by Disney Art Editions, the studio’s then-art publishing division. The edition was a recreation of a 1948 publicity photo and cel. The 16” x 13” setup consists of a black and white photographic background featuring Walt Disney in his beloved Chrysler Windsor convertible parked at the old entrance to the Burbank studio. This is the original entrance at 500 Buena Vista Ave. In the 1990s the studio moved the main gate to the Alameda side of the studio lot following the construction of the new executive building with the seven dwarfs holding the roof up and the new Feature Animation building with the tall Sorcerer’s Apprentice hat. The studio still maintains the original mailing address. Sitting in the 1948 Chrysler with Walt are a few of his closest coworkers; Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Huey, Dewey & Louie. The characters were hand-inked, along with a special xerographic-process created at the studio, then hand-painted in an edition of 500 pieces. The cel was masterfully painted at Disney’s world-famous Ink & Paint Department on the Burbank Lot and numbered 389. Framed by the studio to 23” x 20.5” with a matboard aperture of 15” x 12.5”. A Disney seal is on the cel and a COA is included. The cel is in Fine condition. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition.
