Title:

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Description:
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, the 1993 Henry Selick Walt Disney (Touchstone) stop-motion-animation animated Halloween cartoon holiday horror musical comedy (”Based on a Story and Characters by Tim Burton”; produced and written by Tim Burton) featuring the voices of Danny Elfman (as the singing voice of Jack Skellington), Chris Sarandon (as Jack Skellington), Catherine O’Hara (as Sally), Paul Reubens (as Lock), and Ken Page (as Oogie Boogie).

On October 20, 2006, Walt Disney Pictures reissued The Nightmare Before Christmas, superseding Touchstone Pictures, with conversion to Disney Digital 3-D. Subsequently, the 3-D version of the film has been re-released annually in October for Halloween.

The 2024 re-release advance 1-sheet reused this poster’s image EXCEPT it featured both Jack and Sally on the precipice above the pumpkin patch, as seen in the 1994 British quads, with an “IN THEATERS OCTOBER” on bottom right and a stylized “Disney” above the film’s title.

My five posters are sequentially numbered:
NO.038120, NO.038121, NO.038122, NO.038123, and NO.038124.

These NBC posters came from a roll of 50 posters that the seller(s) are piecing out in sets of 10. The original roll had been in storage since the film’s 1993 release. Most of the posters are in new/near mint condition, with only those towards the outside of the roll sustaining edge and corner damage. My 5 posters came from the middle.

After asking Slate (the seller) if he could share some additional information about where these posters came from and how he came to own them, he sent me this:
“Of course! I have a pop culture auction house and I scour California for pop culture memorabilia - mostly movie stuff but I do art and music and theater as well. I also sell things for other people and take a cut. A guy came to me and said he had Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia that he had since the release of the film. He actually designed the typeface and logo, all the brand guidelines and most of the visual identity in the marketing of the film. He had trading cards, a coffin book full of brand guidelines he designed, a huge heavy cookie jar from Tim Burton, some sealed cassettes of the soundtrack, sealed figurines, etc. Among these were a huge roll of posters. They were originally 50 but a few had been removed over the years and he wanted one. There were 45 left. Now you have 5 of them coming to you!”
